Dear members and friends,:
We are pleased to welcome you to the Joint Meeting of the Argentine Society of Clinical Investigation (SAIC), the Argentine Society of Immunology (SAI) and the Argentine Society of Experimental Pharmacology (SAFE), with the participation of the Argentine Association of Nano-medicine and the participacion of the Argentinean Association of Science and Technology of Laboratory Animals, which will be held in the city of Mar del Plata, November 16-19, 2016. As it is traditional in our annual meetings, the scientific program includes Conferences and Symposia with distinguished national and international speakers, poster sessions and oral presentations of young investigators, fellows and students especially selected based on their quality and relevance.
The meeting will bring together approximately 1500 attendants, including renowned national and international local and international scientists in the field of Biomedicine, as well as young investigators, fellows, medical residents and undergraduate students not only from our country but also from other Latinamerican countries. It is our intention for this meeting to stimulate a fluid and productive exchange between all participants from different nationalities, ages and fields.
SAIC will organize 12 oral sessions with the participation of different invited members of our society including established investigators, young scientists and students. Also, 8 conferences in which the speaker will present its achievements during his/her career will be programmed.
In addition, SAI will organize 6 conferences with the same spirit as SAIC and in which hot topics in immunology will be addressed. Moreover, 6 symposia in which national and international invited speakers will present their results, followed by outstanding abstracts selected for oral presentation will be held. This schedule is aimed at facilitating the integration and discussion of results between invited (mainly international) speakers and the local scientific community. Therefore, the conferences and symposia organized by SAI will be held in English. At last, SAI will also organize 2 short thematic courses.
Regarding SAFE, topics of interest in Pharmacology and its coordination with other medical disciplines (integrated symposia among SAIC and SAFE-SAI), such as immunology, cardiology, infectious diseases, renal-kidney physio-pharmacology, physio-pharmacology of blood and other organ systems will be covered. The joint meeting also will reserve a space consisting of two panels per day specifically organized by SAFE, and addressed issues concerning experimental and clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, new formulations, drugs of biological origin, and regulatory aspects in the country and abroad.
Particularly for this Joint Meeting, the organizing societies propose to promote the analysis and discussion of novel diagnostic and therapeutic options based on the most recent discoveries of the mechanisms underlying the onset and progress of different pathologies. Specific sessions will be devoted to discuss such findings and their diagnostic and therapeutic implication for solid tumors, onco-hemathological diseases, neurodegenerative, cardiovascular and endocrine diseases, as well as for bacterial, viral and parasitic infectious diseases. In addition, mechanisms involved in the pharmacological basis of drug resistance, neuropharmacology, pharmacovigilance, toxicology, phytopharmacology, pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacotherapeutics and immunopharmacology will be discussed. Furthermore, topics about immunological memory and its implications in the development of vaccines will be covered.
During the meeting, there will also be round tables to discuss high impact topics for our scientific and medical community. As it is traditional, selected works will have the chance to compete for different awards in diverse disciplines. As it is also traditional in our meetings, there will be poster sessions in all different areas covered by the organizing scientific societies, which constitute the most appropriate environment for the young scientists to present their recent results.
As organizers of the SAIC-SAI-SAFE 2016 meeting, we consider that it our duty to create a constructive environment for the presentation and discussion of the most recent advancements in research areas of our concern. We believe that this meeting will allow us to better know, interpret and contextualize the biomedical science progress made in our country, as well as its potential impact on our social reality. We invite to you to actively participate in this conference, for which the main paradigms are scientific thoroughness, excellence and constructive criticism.
Looking forward to count on your participation in the event, we take this opportunity to express our expectation about the success of the meeting, for which we offer to the community the personal efforts and dedication of all who are involved in its organization.
